British Seaside Holidays

British seaside holidays never looked better in 2009 with “holidaying at home” becoming this year’s “going abroad” – thanks to the recession.

A family holiday in good old blighty is good for your pocket too with the weak pound meaning your holiday Euros don’t last as long during your break.

The good money is on many of us making pilgrimages back to the bustling British seaside resorts we flocked to as kids – but this time with our own families in tow.

One of Britain’s best holiday resorts is Morecambe, which has undergone a major facelift in recent years to restore the popularity of its 1970s hey-day.

Easy to get from major towns and cities in the North West, what’s changed in recent years is millions of pounds of new investment to significantly modernise the seafront.

The new-look Morecambe has also brought the crowds flocking back – many to have their photograph taken next to the town’s most famous son, Eric Morecambe.

Fantastic public art now lines the regenerated Morecambe sea-front with some of it honouring Terns, the visiting seabirds who make their home on the vast bay in the shadow of the Lake District hills across the water.

Happy Mount Park is a magnet for visitors too where the kids will love to run free. You can sit and relax or visit the popular café as the kids amuse themselves on the outdoor and indoor attractions like the Pirates In The Park indoor soft play area, crazy golf and Aqua Park.

Every Sunday from mid May to Mid September you can also enjoy the sounds from the very best of brass bands from around the North West.

What’s more if the usual British weather threatens to sweep in, there’s plenty of places to run for cover and keep you and the family entertained.

Major concert venue, The Platform, hosts live performances of comedy, music and entertainment and the streets still buzz with seaside entertainments and sideshows.

There’s also a range of outdoor and indoor markets and bargains shops to explore, as well as a new range of smart pubs and cafes to try out.

The kids can try out great all-weather attractions like the Megazone laser adventure, arcades, Morecambe Superbowl and Gala Bingo.

What’s more, Morecambe is a great place to base yourself for a weekend or a week – situated just a short trip down the road from tourist magnets like the Lake District and Blackpool, as well as the historic city of Lancaster.

More and more people are choosing to make Morecambe a holiday base by hooking up with caravan company South Lakeland Parks. The company runs four superb sites in the North Lancashire area where you can buy static caravan holiday homes.

Owning a holiday home and having as many holidays as you want has never been easier to do or more affordable. The units vary in size, design and specification to suit your requirements and there models to fit with your family’s budget.

Brand new caravans with two to three bedrooms (sleeping four to eight people) start from around £23,995, while pre-owned Caravans with 2/3 bedroom, sleeping four to eight start at £8,995.

To help spread the cost of owning a holiday home, South Lakeland Parks also offers a range of flexible finance packages to get you started.

Depending on the type of break you want – either relaxing and away from it all, or busy with things to do, you can choose from the different sites.

The more popular, livelier sites ideal for families with children are at Regent Leisure Park and Ocean Edge, but for quieter more relaxing breaks Hawthorne holiday park or Marina holiday park are the options.

Ocean Edge Park – Case Study

The three-star Ocean Edge is a fantastic coastal retreat – situated on the rugged clifftops above Morecambe Bay and is just minutes away from the sweeping promenade. This leisure park offers every facility you need for your stay such as a family beer garden and themed terrace café as well as offering family friendly facilities like an indoor swimming pool, cabaret lounge, children’s soft play area, amusement arcade and onsite internet café. Right now they are offering no site fees to pay until 2010 too. Ocean’s site fees are the cheapest in the area…now is the perfect time to buy so you can enjoy the rest of the summer in your new holiday home by the sea.

Regent Leisure Park – Case Study

Alternatively, choose the four-star Regent Leisure Park. Again, it’s just minutes away from the sweeping Morecambe promenade and provides spacious static caravans to buy or hire. The sites come complete with a popular family cabaret lounge, indoor children’s adventure land, take away food for nights in, shop, regular entertainments, amusement arcades, family beer gardens, café, launderette, all-weather sports court and a new indoor heated swimming pool.

Marina Leisure Park – Case study

Marina Leisure Park is located on the picturesque Lune Estuary on the shores of Morecambe Bay. The park is four miles from the historic city of Lancaster and close to the area’s historic canal network and towpaths. Small and friendly, Marina boasts excellent amenities for your enjoyment. You’ll find a warm welcome in the newly-refurbished owners lounge bar, a cosy place to meet where you can socialise and relax. Summer evenings are enhanced sitting out on the patio with friends. There’s also an active bowling club and golf society, which owners can join. Pride of place goes to the gardens, which are maintained by the friendly park managers. Recently added is the new indoor pool so owners can enjoy a relaxing swim. www.southlakelandparks.co.uk

Hawthorne – case study

Hawthorne offers complete privacy and relaxation, a perfect location to escape with the family. Nestled neatly at Middleton Sands, close to the shores of Morecambe Bay, this small and friendly park offers a peaceful hideaway located in the pleasant countryside of the Heysham peninsula and only a few hundred yards from the sandy beach. This is a small secluded park with a small bar at its heart which retains a “village pub” atmosphere. The attractive fishing village of Heysham is close by and Morecambe, with its lively markets, pubs and restaurants is only 10 minutes drive. In the immediate area you can enjoy golf, fishing, horse riding, swimming and much more. The historic town of Lancaster is only five miles away and Preston, Kendal and the Lake District are all within easy travelling distance.

Walk Your Way to an Enjoyable Leisure Break

Following are some of the items we provide:

Wetsuits:  The wetsuits we stock are made mostly of Neoprene which is a high quality synthetic rubber which gives the wearer the best in comfort and performance. Because Neoprene is stretchy it allows the wearer to move freely when in water. Wetsuits comes in different shapes, sizes and styles. The two main differences are the thickness of the suit and the style of the suit. We stock 3mm thick wetsuits which are perfect for spring and summer weather. They are thick enough to keep the wearer warm but also allow a good deal of movement. You can also buy 5mm thick wetsuits. These are perfect for colder climates and keep the wearer warm during the winter months, but are more expensive.

Inflatable Pools: When some people think about inflatable pools, they may be reminded of those old style kiddie pools. You know the ones, they are short, small, and were made from some kind of cheap plastic materials. Not anymore. Now inflatable pools are much better than those old kiddie pools! If you want a less expensive, portable alternative to either an above ground pool, or digging out a big hole in your backyard and putting in an in ground pool, an inflatable is the way to go.

Inflatable Boats: Looking to find inflatable boats online? Your timing simply could not be better. Inflatable boats are built with 2 large buoyancy tubes on the side and a flat floor in between of them. The large size buoyancy tubes provide a low center of gravity for the boats as well. These designs make inflatable boats sit flat on the water surface, making inflatable boats almost impossible to flip over.

Sailing: Life Jackets, Boating Life Vest and Sailing Boots are some sailing accessories which we provide in this category. It does not matter who you are or what age you are, everyone must have their own life jacket when in a boat. It is the main safety device requirement. A buoyancy aid is a specialist flotation device designed primarily with the needs of dinghy sailing and small boat sailing (such as kayaking and canoeing) in mind. Thus it is designed so as the free movement of the kayaker or boater is minimized to the least possible extent. Footwear should protect your feet and provide grip. Sailing shoes have non-slip soles. Never sail in bare feet – it’s easy to slip on wet areas.

Camping: The complete camping set  has everything that you need to go camping! It comprises of 1 x two man tent, 2 x single sleeping bags and 2 x camping mats. The set comes in a storage bag to keep it safe and secure. The tent measures 200cm x 140cm x 100cm and is made of 170T Polyester and Polyethylene with 7mm Fiberglass poles.

Clothing: Beach Clothing, Adult Clothing, Bags, Bikini sets, Board Shorts, Shirts and t-shirts,  Hoodies, Hats, Rain Jackets and ladies cover ups at attractive prices.

Footwear: Buy Aqua Shoes, Child Footwear, Adult Aqua Shoes, Flip Flops and Sandals and Wellington Boots at Outdoorleisuredirect.

Power kites and Stunt Kites: Power kites and traction kites have only been around since the 1970s. That’s not a long time compared to some other categories of kite, such as Chinese kites or Box kites. However, quite a bit of traction kite development has taken place, so it’s interesting to see just how far this kind of heavy-pulling kite has come. Stunt kites are another name for sport kites. Stunt kites can be seen in kite competitions, where the scoring is similar to skating. Buy Power Kite and Stunt Kites of various dimensions at lowest prices ever.
